This website was developed and launched by Hose villagers in February 2026. It's non-commercial, non-profit-making and community-driven.
The aims are simple - to promote local village community events and increase community engagement. The benefits of both are well known and don’t need to be repeated here. If we can get more villagers attending more local village events, then everyone benefits and we’ll have succeeded in our aims.
Scope
This events calendar will only work effectively if it is restricted to local events. There’s no gain in advertising events that take place 20 miles away. We therefore have to make difficult decisions in terms of which villages to include in our events listing. Initially covering Hose and some surrounding villages, if the directory proves to be successful, we may look to expand the areas covered - one for the future.
Submission Criteria
We don't wish to be too prescriptive on this, but some constraints are required. We will list community events where proceeds support charities, good causes or local clubs and societies, and this must be declared in each event submission. We will also try to support some entertainment events, eg live music in a village hall, pub quizzes etc where there may be a commercial element. If you’re uncertain as to whether your event meets our submission criteria, please contact us before posting your event details.
Keeping it simple
In a world where social media websites clutter their event pages with intrusive distractions and advertising that focuses on selling, this website should provide refreshing relief. Simple, focused and uncluttered - a true KISS website.
